We started out as Yellow Rat Bastard, a store located on 483 Broadway in the center of the world, SoHo, New York City.

YELLOW RAT BASTARD (YRB), was a word originally developed by Mark Ecko, the designer of the NYC store. The idea for the store came from a Frank Miller comic book called "Sin City"; in one issue titled "Yellow Rat Bastards".

As time passed, the parent store spawned baby rats and the YRB store catalogue, magazine and website were born.

YRB Magazine is street based with a bold against-the-grain approach and a cheeky sense of humor. It is geared towards an audience who are interested in all aspects of the urban scene including street fashion, hip-hop graffiti, extreme sports, body art, contemporary and traditional arts, music and literature. Growing in distribution and popularity, YRB is a publication for those who want to know the latest word on the streets. YRB Magazine has had its cover graced by the likes of Busta Rhymes, OutKast, 50 Cent,Alica Keys, Wyclef Jeans,Lupe Fiasco, Sean Paul, Nas and many more...

Soon people visited the store and said, "Hey, YRB is the sh*t! I want a YRB in my city!" so YRB.us was born.
